Hungarian gastronomy – drinkable delicacies
Wine and soda packet

According to the maxim, anybody adding water to the wine is capable of fulfilling other perfidies too. In spite of this we have a serious tradition of drinking wine and soda in Hungary. The fashion of drinking wine and soda as well, as the appearing of the wine and soda in the gastronomic offer started after the Millennium at the turn of the former century.
It is a historical fact, that Ányos Jedlik the teacher-inventor revolutionized beside a lot of other capital ideas the process of preparing wine and soda, too. Jedlik published in the year 1829 his work regarding the production of the soda-water and of the soda-water bottle, which laid the foundation of making one of the noble stocks of the fabrication of a good wine and soda: the soda-water.
But let’s not forget also, that the first wine and soda can be connected to the name of Michael Vörösmarty. According to the story Vörösmarty and Ányos Jedlik were drinking wine in the wine-cellar of Andreas Fáy located in Fót and Vörösmarty remarked tasting Jedlik’s wine splashed with soda: “- Spritzer? Far to German. Let it be rather “fröccs!” (Hungarian denomination of the wine and soda) – as he lifted the bubbling wine to his lips. Jedlik was standing behind him with an awkward smile on his face: the first soda-water bottle rested in his hand.”
